Forged in the Ring

He began boxing in 1975 at Arethusa College, Wellawatte, under the guidance of the late Donald Munasinghe and former DIG Dharmasiri Weerakoon. Their mentorship shaped his technique and instilled strong values of dedication and discipline. As a schoolboy, Ramiz competed in major meets including the Stubbs Shield, quickly earning recognition as a talented and determined young boxer, proudly representing the Khalid Boxing Family.

A Strategic Turn

At a crucial stage, Ramiz chose to pause competitive boxing to prioritise his academic and professional goals. He continued his studies at Wesley College and later at the National Institute of Business Management (NIBM). This decision paved the way for his future success.. In 2000, his entrepreneurial excellence was recognised with the prestigious Entrepreneur of Sri Lanka award from Japan.

Today, Ramiz Khalid is a respected entrepreneur known for his leadership, integrity, and contributions to the business sector. Though he moved away from active competition, his bond with boxing and his family's heritage remains strong. His journey stands as an example to young athletes-showing that the spirit of a champion can rise both inside and outside the ring.
