K. S. Prasanga
Mr. K. S. Prasanga, born on 20 April 1971, is widely respected as one of Sri Lanka's most disciplined and accomplished boxers, whose journey in the sport reflects dedication, technical excellence, and long-standing service to boxing in the country.
His boxing career began during his school years at Carey College, Colombo 08, where he quickly emerged as a formidable competitor. Representing Carey College with distinction, he achieved significant success at inter-house, school, and national-level competitions, establishing himself as a consistent performer in the Sri Lankan boxing circuit. Mr. Prasanga's achievements at the School Boxing Association of Sri Lanka and the Amateur Boxing Association (ABA) of Sri Lanka stand as testimony to his competitive strength. He was crowned Winner of the Carey College Inter-House Boxing Meet in 1986, and his performances at the prestigious T. B. Jayah Memorial Cup earned him accolades including Best Loser (1987), Runner-up (1987 and 1990), and Champion in 1990. In the same year, he contributed to Carey College finishing as Runner-up at the Stubbs Shield, and later served as Captain of the Carey College Boxing Team (1990-1991). At national level, Mr. Prasanga reached further heights by winning the ABA Junior Championship in 1990 and the ABA Intermediate Championship in 1991, earning Carey College Boxing Colours in recognition of his outstanding performances.
Beyond competition, his contribution to boxing extended into coaching. From 1992 to 1994, he served as Boxing Coach of Carey College, nurturing young talent and passing on his technical knowledge and discipline. In 2024, his coaching journey continued with his appointment as Boxing Coach of Lyceum International School, reaffirming his enduring commitment to developing the next generation of boxers. Throughout his career, Mr. Prasanga competed in numerous prestigious tournaments including ABA Boxing Meets, Francis Jayawardene Tournament, Albert Perera Memorial Cup, and the Layton Cup, consistently representing Carey College and Carey Club with pride. Mr. K. S. Prasanga's boxing journey is marked by perseverance, leadership, and a deep love for the sport. His achievements as a boxer and his service as a coach have earned him the respect of the Sri Lankan boxing community, making him a valued figure in the history and ongoing development of boxing in Sri Lanka.
