Former Nalanda College Boxing Coach

Edirisinghe Arachchige Kolitha Hasitha Kumara stands as a respected figure in Sri Lanka's boxing fraternity, combining competitive success, leadership, and a strong commitment to coaching and athlete development. An alumnus of Nalanda College, Kolitha earned Nalanda Colours for boxing in 1999 and quickly rose through the ranks of school boxing. He emerged as the Winner of the Sri Lanka Inter-School Novices Boxing Tournament in 1999 and later served as Vice Captain (2000) and Captain (2001) of the Nalanda College Boxing Team. In 2001, he led the team to victory at the Triangle Boxing Meet involving Carey College, Nalanda College, and St. John's College. At the national level, he achieved notable success by winning the ABA Novices Boxing Meet (Light Flyweight Under 48kg) in 2002 and was further honored as the Best Boxer of the Meet by the Amateur Boxing Association of Sri Lanka.

Transitioning from athlete to mentor, Kolitha served as the Head Coach of Nalanda College Boxing Team from 2012 to 2020, playing a pivotal role in nurturing young talent. His coaching credentials are reinforced by extensive training and certifications obtained through the Sri Lanka Amateur Boxing Association, the National Institute of Sports Science, and the Sri Lanka Boxing Coaches Association. These include Level I Boxing Certification, Sport Science-Boxing, Coaches Skills Development, and official recognition as a Certified Boxing Coach (2022).

He has also actively contributed to the advancement of clean and ethical sport, participating in anti-doping and clean sport workshops in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Anti-Doping Agency. With strong expertise in boxing techniques, fitness training, motivation, and athlete safety, he remains committed to developing boxers of all skill levels.
