Hussain Hareez is a distinguished boxer who proudly represented Sri Lankan boxing during the mid-1970s, a period remembered for its competitive spirit and disciplined arriateur boxing culture. His dedication to the sport and participation in several prestigious boxing meets reflect his commitment and contribution to the development of boxing in the country.

In 1976, Hareez competed at the renowned L.. V. Jayaweera Memorial Boxing Meet, one of the most respected tournaments of that era, which attracted talented boxers from across the island. In the same year, he further demonstrated his potential by taking part in the Novices Boxing Meet, gaining valuable experience and recognition at the national level. His boxing journey continued successfully in 1977, when he competed at the Francis Jayawardena Memorial Boxing Meet, a tournament held in high regard within the Sri Lankan boxing fraternity. That same year, he also represented his club at the YMCA Francis Jayawardena Memorial Boxing Meet, showcasing consistency, discipline, and sportsmanship in the ring.
