The Felicitation Ceremony and Sihinayake Ree musical Evening

The Ceylon Boxing Federation hosted a Felicitation Ceremony to honour living legends who represented the country between 1960 and 1980. The event was followed by the Sihinayake Ree musical evening, organised as a fundraising initiative.

Ceylon Boxing Federation Launches Official Website at BMICH

The Ceylon Boxing Federation (CBF), under the leadership of its President Mr. Dushantha Kiriella and his dedicated team successfully hosted the official launch of the Ceylon Boxing Federation website on 28th December at the BMICH, Colombo.

The prestigious event was graced by Sri Lanka’s iconic boxing personality, Mr. Dian Gomes, former President of the Boxing Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) and current Director of the International Boxing Association (IBA), who attended as the Chief Guest.

The ceremony witnessed the participation of nearly 150 veteran boxing champions, representing Sri Lanka’s rich boxing heritage and celebrating the legacy of the sport across generations.

In addition to the website launch, the occasion marked the induction of newly appointed Advisory Committee Members, along with the appointment of two new Executive Committee Members, further strengthening the Federation’s leadership and vision for the future.

The event stood as a significant milestone in the Ceylon Boxing Federation’s journey, reaffirming its commitment to honouring past champions while driving the sport forward through innovation, unity, and strong governance.

Ceylon Boxing Federation Felicitation Ceremony

The Ceylon Boxing Federation proudly hosted a Felicitation Ceremony to honour Sri Lankan boxing veterans who represented the nation between 1960 and 1980, in recognition of their invaluable service and lifelong contribution to the sport of boxing.
The felicitation was followed by the “Sihinayake Ree” Muscle Evening, organised as a fund-raising project in support of boxing development. The event was held on 01st February 2025 at Kularathne Hall, Ananda College.
The ceremony was graced by Hon. Sunil Watagala, Deputy Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs, and His Excellency Andrés Marcelo Garrido, Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba.

Bandula Rathnapala

The sole Sri Lankan Professional Boxing Coach serving in New Jersey, United States of America. His achievement reflects the advancement and promotion of professional boxing in Sri Lanka on the international stage.

Nelka Shiromala

Nelka Shiromala is an international boxing official who officiated at two Olympic Games—Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024—making history as Sri Lanka’s first female boxing official to serve at two Olympic Games.
